New York City Conference is a Great Success

During the first weekend of October, Vector’s Tim Bleich, President, and Tammy Beckwith, Human Resources Manager, traveled to New York City to attend a special four-day conference sponsored by the American Staffing Association. Although the country was still in turmoil, and event cancellations were spreading like wildfire, the American Staffing Association, and its many members like Vector, went ahead with the conference, which turned out to be a great success.

Prior to September 11, Vector was eager to learn many new things at the conference, as hundreds of other staffing firms gathered together to share ideas. We were eager to meet with others like us and learn new sales and marketing strategies, as well as better ways to utilize the Internet in our endeavors to serve our clients and employees as best as possible. Throughout the conference, we attended several seminars to this end, but the real success lied elsewhere.

When New York City was struck, hesitation and fear were strong in most Americans’ minds regarding travel, but we were pleased we were able to attend the conference. By not canceling the event, the American Staffing Association and its members saved approximately 300 jobs for the people of New York City, particularly in the service industries in the hotels, conference centers, restaurants, and airports.

As a staffing firm, it is important that we do everything in our power to maintain a strong economy, and in this case, as New Yorkers struggled to retain a sense of normalcy, Vector Technical is happy to say we helped make a difference in our own small way.

SUCCESS STORIES

I just wanted to send a note to thank you for your assistance in helping me find such a wonderful job.

I called Vector Technical after seeing an ad in the newspaper. The very next day, I had an interview scheduled with Vector, and the day after that I was sent on an interview with STERIS Corporation for an Executive Assistant position. The position started out as temporary, working for the Senior Vice President of Corporate Administration, but within 30 days I was hired permanently. I absolutely love the job!

I had been working with other agencies in the area for approximately a month, but was amazed at how quickly and efficiently Vector Technical handled the process. At the same time, everyone was extremely friendly and pleasant to work with.

I truly want to thank everyone at Vector Technical and highly recommend your company. Thank you again!

Sincerely,
Lucy Rhodes

Vector Helps Make a Mark on Riverside Teens' Education

Giving back to the community has always been important to us at Vector Technical. In a recent show of this ideal, Vector’s IT Specialist Terry Sneed visited Riverside High School, where he demonstrated Vector’s new online testing capabilities and informed the students about the staffing industry.

During his presentation on October 17, Terry allowed the students in Riverside’s Cooperative Business Education class to complete a selection of tests to review their own skills. The students learned a great deal from Terry’s presentation, and had many wonderful things to say about him and Vector. Some of their words follow:

“I … liked hearing about your company; it sounds like a really enjoyable company to work through. My aunt went through many companies like yours but your company seems like they care about their customers more than the companies she went through. If I ever need to use a company like yours, I will make sure I call Vector,” says Shannon Wilkie.

Rachel Miller writes, “I would personally like to thank you for taking time out of your morning to talk to us. Taking the tests was pretty fun, and gives me an idea of the knowledge I need to get a job. I think Vector gives us hope for a place to turn to if we cannot find a job.”

Finally, David Beans felt inspired by Terry’s words. “It is motivational to hear stories of success from people like yourself. The seniors here need a good outlook to hope for, and hearing stories of success might be the best way to get the fact across that we can make something of ourselves, with just a little bit of work.”
